Lycidas

from Roses Are Blue by Seb Woodland

lyrics

You can call me Lycidas
Two tails, and a Christmas list
Of virtues on a hypothetic wishlist
I’m striving to be this

Cause I’m just about done with it
And however life goes, yeah, I’ll have fun with it
Grab a blue rose in my jaws like this
Steel sword and a clenched fist

A brave wolf persona is what this is
Anxiety’s antithesis
A lupine battling wickedness
A champion of veriditas

The healing powers
From the mountains and the flowers
The sunshine and the showers
And the trees so old they tower

Every second, every hour
Feeling stronger, getting louder
Felt ashamed but now I’m prouder
Pounding dungeons down to powder

I will walk alone on a path that’s sacred
All guilt atone and dissolve my hatred
And this life I’m given, gonna bet I won’t waste it
Hope so vibrant that you can taste it

Got a dream in my head, and my head on my body
My body on the Earth and this fantasy’s got me
Claws digging in the dirt on the mountain side
Climbing on all fours and I’m filled with pride

Got a human shell but a wolf inside
And eyes that see stories from both of our sides
I’ve got fears of disaster all ordered and listed
But nothing is perfect so I may as well risk it

Let me fall to the ground so I got somewhere to rise to
The sun wouldn’t look so bright in the skies
If it never sunk down below the horizon
Let moonlight play the sun’s reprise

And how can I withstand external lightning and thunder
When the battle inside me is just dragging me under
Gotta love what I am, or forgive it at least
Gotta look within and find peace

And who am I, why do I identify
As an ever-changing canis lupus personae
If you ask what I am, je suis un loup
Quel animal es tu

It’s okay to evolve like the changing seasons
It’s okay to break a promise to your inner demons
It’s okay to be scared and not know what to do
It’s okay to be different, it’s okay to be you

And me might be strange but I’m not gonna fake it
Some part of me was sleeping there but I’m gonna wake it
Got my heart back so I know I won’t break it
Howl to the mountains, I know I can take it
